Race is in of itself, a powerful thing. A strong motivator. A strong divider. A unifying force, or a destructive power. Our racial differences are what make us unique. So many times the inference is on equality that you deny your differences. You deny your uniqueness. You deny what makes you – you.

In this day and age of political correctness, it is easy for a racial message to be misinterpreted. Extremist often tend to use these differences to further their own cause, to push an agenda.

On one side, the passion of pride, and unique ethnicity, is what this country was founded on. The pride of your heritage, be it American Indian, Irish, German, African American, Asian, or otherwise. To be willing to fight for your individuality, and defend your differences. To fight for what you believe, and what others believe, regardless of whether or not you agree. It is a fundamental principle of this country. When you can believe, or feel, so passionately about something that it almost brings you to tears, it is a wonderfully moving feeling.

But there still exist that other side, where misguided self interest are masked behind a curtain of false passion. They use others true passion to further their own cause, head their own agenda, and create a sense of hatred for those different, rather than a sense of self pride, and mutual understanding.

It is our job to determine the difference between passion, and self guided interest. This isn’t always as it seems, and sometimes the differences between the two can be just the slightest shade of gray.
