The quote originated after a very painful time in my life. I was left with a very simple decision. I could pick up the pieces of my shattered life and move on to be something better, grander; to be something more — or I could wallow in self misery and just choose to exist where I was. It was part of a larger free form philosophical stream of consciousness where this was the final line.
It has been my motto for almost as long as I can remember. Although, as people sometimes do, I tend to get lost from time to time. I always come back to this . . . or, at least I try.
Here is the rest of the piece:
People seem to think that life isn’t what you make of it. Not understanding what they are, wishing they were someone else. We all make the world we live in, some just make it better. People don’t seem to care about each other either. Living through each day, not caring for their fellow man. Eventually, it will catch up to us, and we will self destruct.
Sometimes you have to wonder how people get up each day, Knowing that they contribute nothing to society. Ideology has fallen by the wayside, lost, in the past. Those that cling to the ideas are few and far between. Often thinking about ways to correct it, but too few are afraid to initiate. Leaving the world still no better than they found it. Leading to two inevitable choices:
Evolve, or Dissolve . . . Its your Decision.
